Big Calm

can you believe its August…. this year is FLYING,
i actually feel like life is in fast forward for me at the moment….. anyone else feel like that?
as you may know i am the worlds worst blogger!
so much has happened in the last 2 years that i feel like a completely different person,
and unfortunately one that hasn’t had time to update her website so today i thought i would share what i have been up too…………….

I have been working as a freelance photoghrapher for many years trying out different genres to find my fit but when my husband Paul lost his 5 year battle to brain cancer in 2016 everything changed.
i lost my spark
and the one who really ‘seen’ me wasn’t here

the ocean was the place I ran to on a daily when I needed to scream or just feel her calm and quite authentically I developed this passion for underwater photography and for protecting the ocean.
the ocean will always inspire
she made me feel things,
love, sadness, anger, frustration, curiosity, inspiration and above all CALM
so i started shooting the ocean
not in a marine way or even particularly surf,
just started shooting the light….
It’s the way the water catches the light and how beautifully it can be portrayed.

at the end of 2021 i put together a proposal with the Mackay Regional Councils RADF (Regional arts developemnt fund) to produce an underwater photography exhibition to showcase a series of work i am creating titled ‘Big Calm’ which is about losing my best friend and how i feel about it.
Gratefully i was successful in obtaining a grant to help this dream become a reality.
Big Calm is to run in Mackay in 2022 (date to be announced very soon!!) and after much looking for the perfect place, researching, applications, emails, crying and beer
i am extremely excited to say that the venue has been found and Big calm has a stage!

all i can say about it is that despite my passion for the ocean and dedication to spread love and awareness for her it will be a love story like no other,
a healing journey where i will take the viewer to a place that has no limits, only emotions………………..

hope to see you there!

Thank you to the very talented Moon rabbit pictures for these beautiful images we shot on a new moon sunrise talking about Big calm and the one we miss the most
